Hi

I have 2 Thunderbay drives both using Raid 1. One runs perfectly but the other is really slow. I noticed that the I/o requests are increasing without pausing. About 200 per second.

Previously I had same speed problem and fixed it by deleting the Raid and creating it again. Everything worked great after that. But never noticed if I had the same I/o request problems.

Anyone knows what is the problem and possible solution?

Will really appreciate any help.

Perhaps a bad spotlight index. Try deleting it and see if that helps. (Add a privacy exception in Spotlight , restart, then delete the exemption, will restart the index from scratch.)

Forgot to mention that this drive is used for TimeMachine.

When trying to add the privacy exception I get this message: “TIME MACHINE” is a Time Machine backup folder. You cannot add it to the privacy list.

You can try this: "Convert" your volume to Apple format. Then report this on the Apple forums. See if anyone there can help. (They may not be as helpful if the drive is SoftRAID, as most of the moderators/helpers there do not know what SoftRAID is.)

Maybe you can get an answer, then you can convert back to SoftRAID format. It is safe to do this.

I figured it out!

I converted the drive to apple format, then revealed the hidden files in finder, and deleted .Spotlight-V100 folder and done.
My Raid is working full speed!

Great, now you can convert it back to SoftRAID. I guess it was spotlight. I will remember that for users.
