In Terminal there was no message after running that command line, so I assume it's not quarantined. The file /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext is still there.
I opened Optimization in CleanMyMac. There were no "hung applications" or "heavy consumers" listed. Most launch agents were disabled. Here are the only enabled ones:
• SetappUpdater, SetappLauncher, Setapp (subscription includes CleanMyMac)
• iDrive FinderPluginApp
• com.adobe.GC.Invoker-1.0, com.adobe.GC.AGM
I wonder if MacCleaner Pro messed something up when I installed it soon after setting up this Mac. Its "App Cleaner & Uninstaller" app altered some apps or files I had to go back and fix. But now I've uninstalled all of the MacCleaner apps.
If it changed something, uninstalling likely won't undo it. We may have to do a beta debug version next week, if I can get it.
Can we try something
Run the Terminal.app.
Run this command:
sudo softraidtool uninstall
and restart. (Utilities menu)
Shutdown
(its OK if you see errors above)
Now, startup into recovery mode:
Recovery mode on intel: hold command-r at startup, until you see the options window
Recovery mode on M1: press, release, then hold the power button, until you see the setup window, click on "options"
- Boot into recovery mode and select the startup volume (such as “Macintosh HD” if your volume name is different enter it below).
- Select Options and then the startup volume.
- Select Terminal from the Utilities menu
- Enter the command:
kmutil trigger-panic-medic --volume-root “Volumes/Macintosh HD”
Note: The quotation marks are important if the name for your startup volume has a space in it. note also there are two dashes before --volume-root
Hit enter. You should see some text, it will include "done"
- Restart your Mac
- launch SoftRAID, and see if it can launch.
Thank you, but I tried this already — see my post on 30 March. Still the same initialization error.
I just updated to SoftRAID 7.5, but I'm still getting the initialization error. I could reinstall MacOS Ventura 13.3.1, which I believe would solve the issue, but I'm reluctant to go to all the work of restoring my settings, app links, etc.
Please let me know if you have any ideas at this point.
We have had more than one user with this issue, create a second system, then do a migration assistant import, which brings in everything from before and it worked. Might want to try that. then you can delete the original system.
There is some change in the OS that triggered this. I don't think a simple MacOS update will fix the issue.
I've had 7.5 working great for a while and decided to try the new beta version, but as soon as I installed it, I was unable to launch
After going through this thread and trying everything, I stumbled upon a weird solution
Open this file...
Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>SoftRAID>SoftRAID_Monitor.app
After opening it manually, I was able to launch Softraid 7.5 every time. I was minutes away from doing a full Time Machine restore....hope this helps somebody
I can confirm that, it works for me as well. Before that I had a blank screen and softraid crashing after the "Softraid Monitor has stopped..." warning.
Macbook Pro 2019 16"
macos Ventura 13.5
OWC Thunderbay 4 40TB
softraid 7.5
We are working hard on this one. We have some of it fixed, but not all, so a fix should be in beta in a couple weeks at most.
great, because of this bug I haven't bought softraid 7.5 yet
But with this work around I'm ok for now.
