Unlikely, but you can try it and report back. Make sure permissions are set correctly.

The procedure did not work. I copied the folder created on Sonoma and uploaded it to Ventura, but I still have the same problem.
At this point I think the only solution is to reinstall everything. However, it seems absurd to me that a situation like this cannot be resolved.
Is it not possible for you to create an installer that fills in any holes made by CleanMymac, that restoring SoftRaid's various functionalities? In fact, when it happens that some files get corrupted it would (in theory) be enough to reinstall the application from scratch...!

@spyro70

Its a problem where the System does not launch SoftRAID Monitor at startup, and even uninstall/reinstall does not work. Our engineer does not want to start writing "special case" code to bypass third party apps. SoftRAID is a near 30 year old application and we are able to maintain it fully, by avoiding such code and constantly stripping out old code. Otherwise, older apps become nightmares, as I am sure you have seen.

If we can find a general purpose solution, we will do so.

Here is my new update:

- I installed Sonoma by updating from Ventura, but the problem was not solved...
- I formatted the disk by deleting everything, installed Sonoma from scratch and recovered the data from Time machine, but I still have the same problem...

This morning I'm going to delete everything again, reinstall Sonoma from scratch (at which point I'll make the switch to Apple's new OS) and then I'll install all the apps I had by hand. A big and bad job...

What I realised:

1) That Time Machine carries around operating system errors. It's no use if you have to restore a situation where there's an error in the system, it copies everything anyway. At this point Time Machine is only for backing up files, for the system, better to leave it alone. I didn't know that...
2) That you can't expect to lose 3 days of work just because 2 apps can't agree on how best to protect the user. I will also write to CleanMyMac communicating my disappointment.

Anyway, you should find solutions to problems like mine. There are many of us out here who use CleanMyMac. It's not possible to think that if something is deleted SoftRaid can't be recovered except by reinstalling everything. That's crazy (my personal opinion).

@spyro70

First, perform a clean install second system. Very easy.

(In Disk Utility, + Volume, then point the macOS installer to it)

this will show you SoftRAID can work.

Also, in your case, can you double click on Monitor (in /Library/Application Support/SoftRAID), then launch SoftRAID App?

We are getting ready for SoftRAID 8, then will be working on finding a solution for this, I agree it should not be something that even a MacOS update cannot resolve.

I have now solved it.

I'm on Sonoma and reinstalled everything from scratch and now SoftRaid works perfectly, as usual. However, I'm afraid to install CleanMyMac again to avoid similar problems. I hope you can solve it soon so that this can't happen again.I'm ignorant on the subject, but for version 8 an installation function would be sufficient to restore what ClenaMyMac has deleted or modified.
If I were forced to choose between CleanMyMac and SoftRaid, I would definitely choose SoftRaid. You always do a great job!
Thank you for your support.

@spyro70

Note: It is not "clean My Mac" specifically that is doing this. There is an option to remove launch Agents/login items, that is the cause. Users have to specifically initiate this, otherwise Clean My Mac is fine.

So you can install/use it, just do not delete launch agents with it, somewhere in there is the cause of this incompatibilty.

Does SoftRaid 8 now work with CleanMyMac X?

@volcano

The problem with clean my mac is not "compatibility" per se. What happens is CMM offers you to disable MacOS functionality, which prevents the SoftRAID app from launching. If you never use the feature to "disable sgtartup items", you won't have a problem.

They need to white list SoftRAID. That is our suggestion. We are not going to write custom code to fix what this utility and others have caused. Most others have fixed this issue by not disabling SoftRAID as a login/startup agent.

Hopefully one day, this behavior will be changed.

Thanks @softraid-support.

As things now stand on my system SoftRaid is enabled in CMM. However when I try to install the SoftRaid update it will not let me instal the update because it says that CMM is on my system. How do I get around that?

@volcano

We do not block SoftRAID from loading when CMM is installed. We in fact have a "do not show again" button in the alert dialog box.
