RAID 5 volume couldn't write all of a sudden and now missing 1 disk out of 5 after reboot and disk error check.

Case#02823350

What are the troubleshooting I could do to get the volume back?

Unfortunately no. I restarted., tried plugging it in to a different PC. and Even Different cable. Nothing. O Softraid 8 it says one disk is missing. When I try to validate the whole system BSOD, I've also tried putting in a different hard drive to see if I can rebuild but it still doesn't seem to give me an option to rebuild using the new drive / I've sent support an email with my Diagnostics file...

Its likely a hardware failure. (drive, or slot in enclosure, so try moving the drive around.) It may help to remove all the disks from the enclosure, and insert only that missing disk, including into a different slot and see if the disk appears.

I have the Fortis 5C enclosure.

Will it be ok to swap the drives around in different order or does it have to go back in the same way.

also if I got a new of the same enclosure, would it be ok to put the hard drives into it and would it work?

With independent disks, there is no "order" In an enclosure. So you can connect them in any order, and any enclosure.

would the windows checkdisk repair broke something on my setup? Were you able to look at the diagnostics

Someone will look at the support file on Monday. I would not imagine that chkdisk could affect your setup, however.

I trouble shoot further as you said to isolate the drive and move it to different slot. Still shows up on the All disk within the app however says missing on the Raid members. I also tried a brand new identical model enclosure with same symptoms.

perhaps it’s similar to this post

https://forums.softraid.com/investigating-problems-with-disks/disk-failed-now-cannot-remove-missing-disk-nor-add-new-disk-through-softraid/

This is my only backup and I would need some assistance of still getting the raid back and mounted.
