This issue is resolved with 10.15.5 Catalina.
Apple fixed two important bugs:
The Finder hang on RAID volumes
Kernel panics with 16 drives (or more)
We HIGHLY recommend all Catalina users update to 10.15.5!
(and remember to run SoftRAID afterwards to reinstall the 5.8.3 driver)

We have a temporary solution to the Finder hang under Catalina:

Could you explain what this setting does and the risks of disabling SIP?

System Integrity Protection is one of the many protections Apple has added to OS X to minimize the risks of intrusions and hacks.

What it essentially does is try to block all "unidentified" developers from installing admin level code into your system.
It can also block "Identified" developers until you specifically approve their software/extensions from loading.

These protections have become very important to prevent bad actors from intruding into your System.

Sadly this is temporarily necessary to work around this bug, but we expect it to only be a few more weeks before a fix is released.

When SIP is disabled, just be more alert than normal to what new software you install, especially when you are asked for your admin password to install something.

Has there been any success with the issue on Catalina 10.15.5 beta?

10.15.5 was released yesterday, and in my testing so far, the bug is completely fixed.

I just installed Catalina 10.15.5. I have SoftRAID 5.8.3 driver and app. I am using OWC Accelsior 4M and OWC Thunderbay6. in SoftRAID app, it shows the disks, but the volumes that they are made of show non-RAID. I have rebooted twice. I am afraid to use the drive volumes more modify anything. Please advise what to do.

You should send a support file to support at softraid and we can take a look is all is OK or if there is a problem.

have a new MacPro 2020 with Catalina 10.15.5 I also use a OWC Accelsior 4M and have only issues with the set up FCPX is slow as and often just seems to wait for every task. One of the troubles shooting steps was to use the Acellsior without SoftRaid Software. after 10.15.5 I thought the issues are fixed so I just installed Softraid but now FCPX won't open at all. How can I uninstall SofRaid and return the OWC Accelsior 4M there are far to may issues with it

I am pretty sure your issue is disabling secure boot. Please do that.

Well, my machine has started shutting off again in the middle of the night with SoftRAID running... I'm pretty much done with the software now, it's just always so finnicky and full of arbitrary restrictions (reboot and disable this, don't upgrade to this minor OS patch cause it will break things, etc.)

At this point, I'd rather just do a JBOD in macOS because I won't have to jump through so many hoops and walk on so many egg shells to keep the machine stable. Using this software feels like I'm back in the Windows 95 days with flakey drivers and all that nonsense.

Sorry. Apple is going through growing pains on security and OS updates. We used to be confident on any OS X release that the driver at least would be stable inside . releases. No longer.I don't know what hangs you are getting, there should be none, but if you are not going to use SoftRAID, I guess no use in trying to debug/resolve that.

Thanks in any event for the feedback.
