How do I get SoftRAID to stop harassing me to update?!

I've made the decision (as I always do) to not upgrade MacOS until the .2 or .3 release (because lots of my apps still don't have updates to be compatible with v13 and I don't trust Apple's new releases until after they've patched bugs out). So I still have MacOS 12.6.1 and SR 6.3 as they're working fine right now, and I see no need to update and potentially cause issues with my system.

SoftRAID, however, clearly disagrees with me and has been HOUNDING me every hour all day to upgrade to SR7. I have dismissed the notifications, turned off checking for updates automatically, downloaded the update and not installed it. And STILL the app keeps spamming me with notifications asking me to update. How do I stop this app from harassing me?!

You have "check for updates" set to never?

Try this: Uninstall SoftRAID - all components, utilities menu.

restart. you will need to reenter your license.

set the preference to check to updates to never.

See if this fixes this.

I already tried turning the "check for updates" option to "never" this afternoon hoping it was stop these prompts but it hasn't. I don't really understand what's causing them as it only seems to be today that they've been cropping up every hour like this. I've had prompts in the past couple of weeks and dismissed them, but they've never come back this often.

I really don't want to be uninstalling and reinstalling and messing about with the install that I currently have because it works right now. I've had a lot of trouble in the past with kernel panics, and I've gotten it to a point where it just works, which is why I want to leave it alone. Why would it be repeatedly badgering me to update? I can't even dismiss these notifications and tell them not to remind me again. The only options given are "update later" or "cancel" and neither of these make the update notifications stop. Are these prompts coming from your side?

@jjdodders

One of two things is happening:
the preference file for this setting is damaged, or the SoftRAID Monior is crashing, and then it loses its internal timer and checks for updates.

This should not be doing this, clearly. the idea behind the driver reinstall is to reset the preference file and also the SoftRAID Monitor. Generally this will fix this. Its a bug somewhere in our end. My thought is the SoftRAiD Monitor is crashing, causing this.

Ok, that's useful to know. I'm going to try force quitting the SR Monitor and see if restarting it fixes the problem first. If not then I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Please let us know if that resolves your issue. I keep getting the messages as well, every couple hours, and I had the update checker set to weekly. I've now turned it off, and hopefully that will resolve the problem. If not, I'll be trying your steps.

However, this problem has persisted through multiple OS and Softraid versions and reboots. I am not confident restarting SR Monitor will change anything.

@tim-rohrer

If you can find a SoftRAID Monitor crash, we can look at it, and see if we can identify the cause, so we can fix it. We do not want to be annoying users!

@softraid-support No evidence of crash reports. Or spin reports.

Turning off updates didn't solve the problem. I still get the notice. I've tried both "Cancel" and "Update Later".

@tim-rohrer

Did you try "uninstall SoftRAID - all components", then reinstalling?

Interesting that there is no crash log.

Ok, I think I figured it out. I needed to actually uncheck the boxes for which updates to download, then hit cancel.
