Hello, I just got my thunderbay 8 and built a 6 drive raid 5 volume. I wanted to test adding a drive, so I put another 4tb in the 6th spot. Initialized it and when I right click the volume I can't add disk.

How do I add a new disk, to add to the capacity if I have spare slots open? I was told by chat support that this was a feature of 7 (using 7.6) so that is why I decided to buy the 8 bay. I don't want to rebuild 16tb worth of data to add another drive. Synology did this very easily, I thought it was a new SoftRaid feature too.

Thanks for any help!

- Softraid is 7.6 on M1 Sonoma 14.0

Sorry, we do not support adding drives to an existing RAID 5 volume to increase its capacity. Maybe someday.

You need to backup/create the volume again and restore.
