I have Softraid XT 7.6.1 installed. Recently I have started getting the prompt message that version 8 is available.
At the current time I do not want to upgrade. I've turned check for updates to OFF in the preferences, but I am still getting the messages - five times in the last 2 hours!
Is there another way to turn off those messages, or is it possible block softraid calling back to the OWC servers to check for updates using Little Snitch or similar? I frequently leave my machine running automated tasks, but when the message window suddenly appear during a task it can sometimes cause those tasks to fail. Hence my interest in stopping them. If it was just once a week not a big deal, but several times a day is disruptive.

What is probably happening is the SoftRAID Monitor, or SoftRAID tool is crashing. Open the console.app, and look around for any reports that have SoftRAID Monitor or tool in the title, mostly in "Diagnostic reports", there are three locations for that, however.
Let me know if you find any, then save one into text edit, and "Make Plain Text", so you can attach it here.

No reports of any crashes for SoftRAID or TOOL. The only report related to Softraid is the standard log report which just shows when I launched and quit the app, and the times do not coincide with the messages:

So far today I've had no messages, but then I have stopped all outgoing connections for Softraid using LittleSnitch. It seems to be working but not sure if that is just coincidence!

Can you clarify what you mean by the times do not correspond with the log entries?
This may be a clue what is happening...

I meant that the messages that are appearing to upgrade have nothing to do with, and are unrelated to, the launch or quit times of the application. The launch and quit times correspond to when I launched and quit the application. The messages came at different times and were not related to if I was opening or closing the app. They were just appearing randomly.
Regarding the message, I assume that UPDATE LATER probably tells the app not to ask again for a certain period of time and it would therefore it would have been better to click that rather than CANCEL, which I was doing. However UPDATE LATER is a bit vague - it could potentially mean that the app will auto update itself later. Very unlikely it means that but better to be 100% sure.

True, update later will delay the alert until the next cycle, at least by design.
But changing check for updates to never should not generate any prompts.
