Hi, I noticed that the Softraid 7.5 Gui no longer lists any of my disks and volumes. I do not see any Softraid extensions in /Library/Extensions if that is a clue. Most of the menus & options in Softraid are ghosted out. I cannot run the "reinstall softraid driver" function since is ghosted out. Any ideas? Thanks.
My serial number seems ok. I see this in the logs and no other errors:
Sep 29 17:45:56 - SoftRAID Monitor: Serial number is valid and has been assigned to this Mac.
I rebooted and got this message "A disk for the SoftRaid volume "BigServer" was removed or stopped responding while the volume was mounted and in use. " After about 20 seconds both of my OWC units seemed to stop and restart.
The actual problem is the Monitor cannot talk to the Application to tell it what disks are present. We are not sure what is causing this, we fixed the main reason for this kind of problem with 7.6, but some users are still affected by a different issuem with the same symptom.
If you run 7.6, does it work?
@softraid-support Issue has been fixed. Here is how: I tried installing soft raid7.6 but the software would not let me run a free trial since I had a license already and my service plan had expired. I then reinstalled 7.5 and I was prompted for permission to install the driver. Immediately after the driver was installed, my disks and volumes appeared again. I think I know what happened....prior to my problem I had chosen the option to not be reminded about renewing my service plan. I already have a reminder in my Mac app and did not want to see the pop up constantly...perhaps there is a bug which was triggered after I chose that option.
If you were running either intel, or post 13.3 on M1/M2, this should not have been the case (the SoftRAID driver is always available to load your volumes.)
Let me know what OS you are running? and intel or ARM?
@softraid-support I'm running the following:
CPU: 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
MacOS 13.6
The issue reappeared again after I rebooted my computer. Not sure if it is related, I had been running the simulator app (emulating iPhone 15 pro iOS 17), takes forever to load up and then doesn't operate correctly. I also built and ran a dart/flutter language "hello world" app which worked ok.
This screenshot shows the install / uninstall driver option is not available although at bottom of soft raid UI it says a driver is detected.
Reinstalled softraid 7.5 and the disks and volumes appeared again...did nothing and rebooted...now they are done again.
I recently started using the simulator app which is part of Xcode to have a simulated iPhone appear on my computer. I noticed in Softraid that an ios17 disk image for simulator was listed after I reinstalled soft raid. This disk image doesn't appear in Finder but it does appear in Disk Utility. Could this odd disk image be causing trouble since it seems to be present when the computer starts up.
Ok I totally uninstalled the simulator stuff. The disk image doesn't appear after a reboot but still my disk and volumes are not listed.
So I renewed my service plan and updated to softraid v7.6 after the install it says the driver is v7.5 not sure if that matters.
But this did not fix the issue. I looked at my computer's full disk access entries and saw that Softraid 7.0.1 was listed and no other versions. Strange! So I removed the entry and added SoftRaid 7.6 which makes Mac OS quit and reopen soft raid...now I can see my disks and volumes...BUT in full disk access menu an entry which says softraid 7.0.1 was made again.
So this would be a good time to reboot the computer and see what happens. I rebooted and I can still see my disks and volumes. Perhaps I did not need to upgrade to 7.6 and all I needed to do was remove and remake the full disk permissions. Of note, after the reboot the version number listed in full disk permissions coincides with Softraid 7.6 .
Put the simulator back in and see if all remains well. Hope so!
I added back the simulator data for iOS 17...ran some code...rebooted..everything is fine in SoftRaid gui.
