We have a OWC TB2 4bay Raid 5 edition drive with a MacPro6,1 12 core running 10.13.

The drive was installed April 2020 with 4 Toshiba drives.
There were some minor i/o errors, but the drive worked ok until 2 weeks ago.

Since 2 weeks, the drives only mounts as Read Only.
We changed the disk with i/o errors and rebuild the Raid.
The rebuild was flawless, but the Volume is still Read-only.

What can be the problem?  Is there a solution without reformatting?
We tried DiskWarrior, but it doesn't support the Raid volume.

Disk Warrior will work, but you need to get a machine with Catalina or older.

or do a backup/restore.

the SoftRAID driver does not communicate on the file system level, so it is of no help in fixing this, it is macOS.

Having this same issue, but it's now 3 years later. Wondering if there are any updates to the solution. For the record I did not have a recent drive failure and all my drives are showing healthy.

@ripariankit

Sorry. Did you use Disk Warrior the last time? If you did, I would use it monthly on all your HFS volumes.

Sorry, my post was confusing. I'm not the OP, but I'm experiencing the same issue. I definitely do not have a machine running Catalina in 2024. Can DiskWarrior now fix this on the latest versions of MacOS?

@ripariankit

Disk Warrior works on any HFS volume (not APFS) and runs in Sonoma, yes.

Hey! Ok so I got DiskWarrior set up and it repaired the disk, bringing it back to a read-write state. However, after I repaired the file structure, SoftRAID is complaining about disks in the past not being readable or writeable (yes, obviously) and it's showing all disks as failed. What do I do to fix this?

@ripariankit

Attach a support file. I  believe you just need to use "recover failed disks" and rebuild.
