When you launch Disk Utility, there is a bug in High Sierra (10.13.0) where SoftRAID HFS+ volumes are not displayed.

If you are booted from a SoftRAID volume, when you first launch Disk Utility, the boot volume is selected by default, but there is apparently no way to re-select the boot volume.

However we discovered that, under the View icon, if "Show All Devices" is selected, then SoftRAID volumes will be displayed.

This is a bug in High Sierra's Disk Utility, that we hope Apple will fix at some point.
