Softraid Beta working but drives not mounting

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Big Sur and Softraid stopped working.  After doing some research I installed the latest beta version of the app (6.01 b43) and the driver.  The application works and I can see my drives but I cannot mount them.  I disabled SIP and did it again but the drives will not mount. When I manually try to load the kext I get the following error message

sudo kextload -v 6 /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

Error occurred while building a collection: in '/Library/Extensions/spl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/KernelExports.kext/KernelExports' missing __TEXT segment

Any solutions for this?

Thanks!

Go to /Library/Extensions. Delete all the extensions except for SoftRAID and OWC. Reinstall the SoftRAID driver. reinstall any drivers you still need. That should fix this, as any obsolete driver seems to block all the rest from working correctly

I can confirm that after reinstalling drivers and rebooting it all works as expected.

Thanks!

Thanks, I think this is the correct solution. Its possible Apple may fix this in the future (one extension that is obsolete should not block all others), but its time for clean installs with Big Sur!

I have a 2015 iMac 27" Retna with Catalina 10.15.7. Uninstalled 5.8.4 and installed the current Beta 6 in preparation for Big Sur. Softraid sees the drives but will not mount them. I removed all the extensions except softraid and OWC. Rebooted, zapped PRAM etc.

Uninstalled Beta 6 and reinstalled 5.8.4 and the drives are mounting.

Any other ideas? Thanks, Larry

Do you still have access to beta 43? Try that and let me know.

I just started this process. So never had beta 43. So I guess I just have to wait for some other release.

@softraid-support Thank you. I installed 43 and the disks all mounted ok. I just got a note that 47 is out. Should I try that or just go to Big Sur with 43? I am still on Catalina 10.15.7. Thanks Larry

No, wait until B48, read the release notes, but we should be able to figure this out pretty quickly.

Similar issues here with macOS Big Sur 11.1 & SoftRAID 6.0.1 b47

Can no longer mount RAID 4 (OWC Thunderbay 6) or RAID 0 (Sonnet 4x4 m2 PCIe). The other Thunderbay disks that are not in the RAID 4 volume do mount correctly.

Also will not validate, safeguard or anything else despite the fact this all works and has been implemented on a Catalina 10.15.7 boot volume running softRAID 5.8.4.

Have clean installed softRAID 6 a number of times now, did a recovery OS re-install etc along with the usual macOS claptrap, zap PRAM, reset SMC.

How can this be resolved? Is this simply a poor SoftRAID driver or a Big Sur issue?

MacPro 7,1 Big Sur 11.5.1. 16 core, 2TB /192GB, Vega II Duo. 8TB Thunderbay 6 RAID 4, 2TB Sonnet M.2 4x4 RAID 0. UA Apollo x8, UAD-2 quad, Decklink MiniMon 4k. Dell U3419W & BenQ SW2700PT. FaderPort 16, KK S61, Push. Nuendo, Wavelab, Live, Logic, FCPX, Resolve Studio.

Its a combo problem with Big Sur vs the M1 development environment.

Go back to B43 until we get b48 out. Running the older version should fix this. Let me know if not.

Run SoftRAID 6.0 B47, uninstall SoftRAID (utilities menu), then run B43 and install the driver.
