This whole debacle has been a learning experience.  I was naive to the idea that the software RAID would be the downfall of the drive functionality and have learned a good lesson.

I'm in the process of migrating all my data off of the OWC drives and then reformatting them with Apple Raid before using them again.  I just need the drives to work, I don't need other features.  So I'll stick with the simplest possible solution.

And judging by the tone of the comments from OWC support starting to pop up here, I think ill avoid OWC and their products in the future.  In the beginning it was apologetic and helpful.   The current defensive attitude towards customer frustration seems to show the path forward.  I am also shocked that they are asking people to pay for upgrades to soft raid just to get their drives to work without having to reformat. In this situation, it would seem like courtesy upgrades would do more for customer loyalty.

@ironpig

If you are using RAID 0 or 1, SoftRAID can convert your volumes to Apple's RAID. It takes a few seconds is all.

There is no way to convert a RAID 5, if that is what you are using, to Apple volumes.

We try to be very helpful and engaging on the forum to support users. Sorry if you perceive differently.
