Hello everyone.
I just received the owc express 4m2 controller.
I installed the ssd memories and connected to my macbook pro 16 m1 max for raid 0 disk configuration.
It's 4 memories of 2tb each.
Now at the time of doing the mount it gives error and Monterey doesn't recognize the disks if not formatted by the mac operating system.

I've tried all of them, I even got a Monterey update today (12.2) that I hoped would be better but nothing.

Then in the end I found out that simply with the disk utility of the mac there is also a raid assistant, which allows you to do raid 0 and raid 1. (see attachment of speed test).

Since I need raid 0 now I wonder what I do with the softraid that doesn't even work in the mac? In the sense that I could have advantages even if the software would work?

I don't think with it I would have a higher speed than what I have now (see attachment), so what did I pay 70 euros more for?

Is there a way to get this money back from owc? Or do I have to send everything back for a refund and buy a "basic" controller without softraid?

Maybe you can enlighten me and tell me what is the best thing to do?
Basically I need this drive to do 4k/6k video editing.
Thank you very much

The problem was the M1 has different security and third party extensions must be approved here:

https://support.apple.com/en-lk/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac
Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.

Then when you install the driver, you can "Allow" OWC as an identified developer. Both steps are required for drivers to load.

We are working with Apple to get this simplified for SoftRAID users.

As far as using SoftRAID vs. Apple RAID, they perform similar on RAID 0. Users report with some blades, SoftRAID is much faster on reads, it depends on the blades. (SoftRAID used multiple threads, Apple's RAID is single threaded, one IO at a time) SoftRIAD also manages the disks, reporting any IO errors, and supports TRIM, which the MacOS RAID does not. TRIM reduces wear on your blades and prevents a performance drop over time.

Yes it is possible to get a refund if you choose not to use it, the process depends on where you purchased, etc. You would contact macsales.com for that, refund issues are not handled on the forum.
