I'm just asking for confirmation that SoftRaid 6.1 will work on Monterey that is expected to be released 10/25/21. I'm accessing an APFS volume from an M1 iMac, which is working fine on macOS 11.6.
Thanks.
No, 6.2 is required for Monterey. It will be released Tuesday AM, we want to see the released Monterey before releasing SoftRAID 6.2. Apple sometimes does changes from the final Candidate to release which can break things, so we are being cautious.
Glad I asked,..,, any chance mirroring of APFS drives will be in 6.2?
We support mirroring now. We do not yet support converting a non RAID to a Mirror in APFS, etc. Only new volumes. 6.2 is just minor changes to adapt to Monterey.
OK, so how would I set up an APFS mirror Raid 1? Format all drives APFS, and then create the mirror?
APFS is a volume format, not a disk format, but you are close.
initialize the disks with SoftRAID, the create a volume and select the file system as APFS.
I so rarely have multiple volumes on drives I forget the distinction. Thanks!
Any ETA for APFS Mirrors on SoftRAID??? Thanks.
Maybe I asked the wrong question: Are there plans to have an existing APFS volume be converted to an APFS mirror? Any rough ETA if yes?
