I am in the middle of certifying a 10TB drive. I'm not looking forward to how long that's going to take.
But can I assume that the read passes are going to go at least a *little* more quickly than the write passes?

Both reads and writes slow down as the drive hits the inner tracks, but reads and writes are the same speeds with raw data. So the amount will vary greatly. 5-6 days should do it.
Otherwise you are using an untested drive, and that is why many drives seem to suddenly fail, they were never tested deep into the drive.
