Any update on release time line for SoftRAID 6? Thanks.

Are you able to encrypt volumes in the 10.16 beta and have it persist through a reboot/restart then?

There is not yet a 10.16 beta, it will probably be released at the "virtual" developers conferences. At least we expect it, as that is the pattern. I do not think it will be fixed in the initial beta's in any case, but hopefully in an early beta.

Well, for OWC's sake, I hope Apple comes through. I have been sorely disappointed many times by Apple and the bugs that are allowed to carry forward from one release to the next. Thanks for your time. I'll make a note to check in again in late summer/early fall.

Any updates?  I’m on the latest Softraid 6.  Can we still not create encrypted volumes?  Running Big Sur 11.6.2.

@jdmarlow

We do not support encryption because there are kernel panics on encrypted volumes. I believe this problem also happens with Apple RAID created volumes, and we have also reported that to Apple, in the hopes they resolve this issue more urgently. It is not fixed yet.

@softraid-support Alright, how about on a volume with NVMe‘s? I don’t see an option when configuring the Raid through Softraid - does it have to be done in Disk Utility if possible?

@sampl_e

Yes you need to use Disk Utility. Select the volume and "erase" and select APFS encrypted. It must already be an APFS volume to do this.
