I just attached my new OWC ThunderBay 4 with two 12 TB drives inserted. I ran SoftRAID and...nothing. The enclosure is not showing up in SoftRAID more in Disk Utility. No clue where to go from here.

Thanks!

If the drives do not show up in SoftRAID, then they are not physically connected correctly.

Check the cables, etc. They need to show up in the disks column, or they are not getting power.

Are they spinning up?

I discovered the TB cable in the back of the unit had come unseated moving the unit into place.

Man, certifying 2x12TB drives is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I started the process yesterday afternoon and it started at 80 hrs remaining. By bedtime it had climbed to 87 hrs remaining (?). This morning it had dropped to 63...now it reads 81 again (All these are for both drives). If the numbers are bytes, I'm 2/3 of the way through each disk (1st pass). 5 days to run all three passes (each pass being equal and I have no idea if they are).

I have to leave home to go back to work next Monday...I was really hoping to have volumes created and data transferred to them from my external USB drives before I left. At this rate I ain't gonna make it.

Certify times are estimates, as drives change speed depending on where they are. It goes as fast as the disks can go. And takes a long time! 12 TB drives easily take 4 to 6 days. Each pass takes the same time.
