I am currently running two thunderbolt 3tb drives with SoftRAID Lite in RAID 1.
I would like to add two more of the same kind of drives and upgrade to RAID 5 with the full version of SoftRAID. Is this hard to do? I have almost 3tb on my existing setup and don't have any place to put this data while setting up the new RAID 5.
Thanks for any advice.

We cannot convert a RAID 1 volume to a RAID 5 volume, if that is what you are hoping to do.
You also need to consider your backup strategy. RAID is not the same as backup.

Thank you.
This project is just a media server for my home theater. I have other backup strategies for my main computer.
I guess I will have to get a fifth hard drive to keep my 3tb of data on while I build a RAID 5 set up. right?

Yes, and keep it as a separate off line backup of your media.
