we created 2 raid 1 volumes with soft raid lite.
by an failure I had to realise that only the primary (which failed) was bootable.
I checked the second array the same situ here as well.
data was there , but I could not boot from the drive?
I both cases the second disk was added later with no errors
what we are doing wrong?

If this was USB, there is an OS X bug that could be causing this. Run SoftRAID from a similar OS X version and "rebuild boot cache". that would make it bootable.
