How to properly upgrade from version 5.5.6 to version 5.6.
After the new version is downloaded, the installer is automatically opened. As instructed, I drag SoftRAID 5.6 into the Application folder. Now I have two installations in my apps. How should I proceed? Do I uninstall SoftRAID 5.5.6 by selecting Uninstall SoftRAID from the Utilities menu? And then delete the SoftRAID 5.5.6 directory from my apps? (Can I use AppClener.app to delete all files from the system?)
Which app to install from my new installation should I run? SoftRAID 5.6.app or SoftRAID Easy Setup.app? (I have RAID-5 installed on my computer and do not want to delete data on this volume)

thank you for the advice

The upgrade process is straightforward:
Download the latest version.
Copy it to your Applications folder
Run the new version
Enter your password and let it update the driver
Restart.

That is it. You can optionally delete the older version at this time, or wait until you are confident there were no introduced issues from the update.

Easy Setup is an app that is designed to get started. There is no reason to use it except for initial setup. If you run it, it will also install the latest SoftRAID driver automatically.

Never use applications like AppCleaner on SoftRAID. We have a complex driver and it is not wise to delete it "manually". SoftRAID has a "Uninstall SoftRAID" menu item in the utilities menu, to completely remove all SoftRAID components from the current startup volume. Note: Uninstall does not delete the app, nor does it delete or convert SoftRAID volumes to Apple volume. that would need to be done manually.

Yes, this process is the same for all versions of SoftRAID.

When I updated due to the present SoftRaid telling me that there was a newer version, I sent thru the process but it did not move over my serial number from Thunderbolt. Now the new version of the SoftRaid is running in Eval Mode and will nor recognize that I had a serail number from the old setup and I can not readily find the old serial number

The actual problem is SoftRAID pointed you to an incorrect version by mistake. Try this version and see if it fixes the problem:

When I tried the process below, I get a dialog telling me I already have a copy running. Is there a step missing? Do I have to uninstall the current version first?

The upgrade process is straightforward:
Download the latest version.
Copy it to your Applications folder
Run the new version
Enter your password and let it update the driver
Restart.

I'm trying to update to 5.6.7 from 5.6.5 of SoftRAID Lite.

You need to quit the original version that is running, then launch the new downloaded version, let it update the driver. then restart.

Should be easy. Let us know if you have a problem.
