I don't run it all the time, just to monitor activities at specific times like rebuilds or whatever might be going on.

How long does it take then for the app to need to quit?

It should generally take many hours.

Hello again.   Resurrecting this thread since this exact same problem has been going on for over a year now and no resolution in sight.   I just had to go through yet another rebuild because of the Mac Pro disk spin-up timing issues on a reboot (vs a shutdown/power-up) as my RAID 1+0 decided to part ways again.   During the rebuild I can't tell you how many times this internal error occurred and the app crashed.   Sometimes within minutes, sometimes maybe longer.. unclear however that it's ever up for more than an hour, even doing "nothing".   This does NOT give me warm fuzzies about my continued use of SoftRAID for sure.   Adding to that, I set my secondary mirror volume timeout to 2 minutes, seemingly for a second time, yet the next day it was back to 15 minutes!    I'm afraid to update MacOS because every time I do it, if I don't catch the reboot and shut it down, I go through this process again and again..  Isn't it time to fix this thing?   Sure is recreatable on my machine.. can you generate core files or something I can send you?

The app does not need to be running during a rebuild, either. We have not found the root cause of this yet, it is mysterious. I think it is a component of OS X that is blocking the Monitor, but cannot prove it. Most users never see this, some see it frequently. It is weird.

The timeout issue might be Catalina updates, they now wipe out the SoftRAID installation when updating (and install the driver version we bundle with OS X instead). It should not affect preferences, but I can see how it might. This will be fixed in Big Sur, we were informed recently.

We have paused researching this bug until we get all Big Sur issues fixed, that has a hard deadline, which we must meet.
