I upgraded from 5.1 to 5.5 yesterday on my 27" iMac 5K Retina running Mac OS X 10.11.4 (Build 15E65).

Now every time I launch SoftRAID 5.5 from my Dock it requires my Admin password to make changes.

I'm running SoftRAID v 5.5 - Driver v 5.5

Is this now to be expected with 5.5 ? If not how can I resolve this annoying issue ?

Thank you.

P.S. Thanks for the 5.5 update and the new features.... I've been waiting patiently for them.

It appears OS X is not refreshing the extensions cache.

Try doing an uninstall SoftRAID (Utilities menu)
then install again. You wll need to reenter your license if you do this.

Yes, thanks. I happened to try that after posting and now SoftRAID is AOK and operating correctly for me.

BTW... I've traded in my 17" MBP8,3 that I was running SoftRAID 5.1 on. Before trading in I migrated all my user data and application to my new 27" iMac 5K. The MBP8,3 is now shutdown and ready to be traded. When I used SoftRAID on my new iMac it made some mention in the SoftRAID log as shown below...

Apr 14 23:39:40 SoftRAID Monitor[4420] : The SoftRAID serial number you entered for this Mac is already in use on host: barry-17inch-macbookpro-el-capitan.

I've not seen this message again, and wonder if I can ignore this now.

Thanks....

Yes.... I erased the MBP8,3's internal boot volume and downloaded a fresh Mac OS X from Apple to allow next user to configure it as they wish. All my 3rd party software was removed using this approach. That should be same as what you asked me to do, right ?

Hello, I have been using a Softraid license (upgraded from Softraid for Thunderbay) for about a year without any problems. I updated to Mac OS Sierra (currently 10.12.1) a while back and have been using Softraid 5.5.5 without any issues since it was released. This morning all of the sudden Softraid requires admin password when launched and it's telling me "Serial Number Already In Use". I have Uninstalled the software from utilities menu - then re-installed. I’ve tried that twice and I keep getting the “Serial Number Already In Use” message when I re-install. I have no other user accounts on my MacPro Late 2013 and I have not installed softraid on any other computer. Any suggestions?

Can you Help?

The serial number issue is a bug in a network device in your local network, with "Bonjour". Restart all network devices to eliminate this problem.

I just installed SoftRAID 5.5.5 on a new MacBook Pro running 10.12.2. Every time I launch SoftRAID it asks for my admin password. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling SoftRAID (twice) but that did not change the behavior. What to try next?

Thanks,
Mike

Try booting from another 10.12 volume and click the volume and "uninstall SoftRAID driver". then "Install SoftRAID Driver".

See if that fixes this.
