I swear I have to deal with this every time I want to update SoftRAID. There is no documentation on the proper update procedure. Unfortunately I have forgotten how I did it last time.
I really think this should be in the Support FAQ or on the latest version download page. When the DMG process runs I get a new App in Applications and nothing has really changed. Do I need to unmount everything? Do I restart?
I found some information about new install but not for updating.
I guess it is our fault because it is so simple, we assume users would know.
Just download the new app. Delete the old app, run the new SoftRAID version and restart. That is all.
Thanks. Pretty simple. With important data I really do not want to take any chances on assuming what the proper way to update is.
I would like to second bigtom's last comment about not wanting to take any chances with the proper way to update. In the future please make the update instructions explicit, at least in the release notes.
I will pass this on to the team, to add simple instructions to the release notes.
