I installed SoftRAID in trial mode to see if I'd like it, but I can't uninstall. When Clicking on the drop-down, selecting "Launch SoftRAID" and "SoftRAID Monitor Preferences", nothing happens. This app doesn't show up in the Applications folder, so far as I can tell, there's no way to uninstall this thing. There is also no option in macOS preferences for it either.

Sonoma 14.4.1

What do you mean, you cannot uninstall? Did you just delete the app? that does not uninstall, it just deletes the app. You need to uninstall from the utilities menu

@softraid-support I figured it out, I had to put the app back in my /Applications folder. You need to update your documentation to state that your app doesn't uninstall like normal apps, and that if someone had removed the App, they need to put it back before they can complete the uninstall process. I would also recommend adding error handling to the program that runs in the menu bar to indicate that the app isn't present, rather than having nothing happen when the app is not present.

@softraid-support this is such a wildly unhelpful and frankly rude response. what a messy issue the uninstall already is, sheesh.

@chellstephen

A driver is not something you can uninstall by deleting the app. I said I would make your suggestions. I cannot do more than that. We also have the ability to delete components using terminal. but we have not actively documented this, we want users to use the uninstall. There are many apps that require running uninstall, malware, professional apps like Adobe, etc. So what we do is not unusual.

What we do not do is create a separate "uninstaller". I am not sure if we ever will. But we can certainly improve documentation and I made the suggestions. I do not know what is unhelpful about that.
