My server boards support Intel ® Rapid Storage Technology (RST).
As I understand, Intel RST is considered a software-based RAID solution.
The Intel RST drives are configured in the bios.

The question is:
Do I need Softraid software?
Should I use Softraid software instead of Intel's RST?
Should or can they be used together?

As you can see, I'm not sure of the relation ship bewtween the 2.

Thanks for any, comments, tips, and thoughts

RST is a bybrid, but actually more of a hardware RAID.I have never used it.

RST only works on SATA SSD's.

RST is not portable to Mac's, and only usable on intel motherboards with RST enabled.

It probably does not pass SMART data, but do not know.

I think you can just use SoftRAID.

I checked with engineering, and if you activate RST (for performance/less power usage), it will work with SoftRAID. Its unlikely the RAID volume RST creates are available with SoftRAID, but we have not tested this.

So not officially supported, but things should work. RST volumes would not interfere with SoftRAID volumes ,and vice versa.
