Saving a word file (.docx) from inside Word using <Command>+<S> brings up an error "Check to make sure the removable drive containing this file is still available", well it is available and the file saved properly (when I hit command +S) to the original file name, but the file File Name in word is changed to gibberish so next time it's necessary to do a Save As, and overwrite. Copying .docx to Raid works fine. All other file types are OK also. I can save .txt files from within word with no issues. Saving the .docx to any other media works without issue.
File permissions issue?
Unlikely to be a permissions issue. take a USB Thumbdrive and do the same test. erase it as HFS see what happens.
OK when I format the thumb drive as HFS I get the same issues. Damn. You nailed it.
There is no option in on my Mac mini (2024) running Apple M4 Pro (Sequoia 15.2 OS) to reformat the Thumb drive with APFS using the standard Disk Utility.
word.docx Saves to Internal HD no issues.
It's a HFS issue - so I need to reformat the ThunderBay in APFS?
