SoftRaid 8 - Windows 11 PC Stalls on Shut Down

Hey everyone, having a strange issue with my Windows 11 workstation while using a Mercury Elite Pro Quad with SoftRaid 8. I recently built a new system, so the current install of OS and all software are very fresh. I've run all kinds of diagnostics, and the PC seems to be working correctly.

However, I frequently have trouble un-docking the Mercury drive enclosure (it's set to RAID 0 as a fast working drive for video), either through Windows eject or OWC ejector. It seems something is always accessing it in the background.

Things get stranger when I finally get it to eject from the computer--when I hit shutdown, the PC stalls and won't fully turn off until I manually hit the power button. The only time the PC behaves this way is while using the OWC drive. I also use MacDrive 11 Standard and have that running in the background since I'm often handed Mac-formatted drives.

Any ideas where I should start looking? I feel like I haven't had a good, consistent experience with SoftRaid since version 3 back when I was on Windows 10...

This is going to require hands on assistance. Open a support case, so a Windows specialist can help you.

Run the Windows Diagnostic program with the drives connected. You can download it here: https://download.owc.com/diagnostics/windows

This should generate a .ZIP file - When you get a response, reply with the zip file and any other descriptive information that can help them (copy/paste this post).

Let us know if you get good assistance.

@softraid-support Thanks for getting back to me about this. I'll run the diagnostic, collect the .zip, and open a support case. Really hoping to get this resolved. I was actually having similar issues a while back (V3 of SoftRaid for Windows seemed to be, for a while anyway, the only version that didn't do this on my PC).

@joncoy It may be a USB/MEPQ related issue. I don't think this is specifically a windows driver issue.

@softraid-support Right, that definitely has me curious. This is a new board/CPU combo that I just installed (actually, most of the system is new). What might be the cause of it? Every bit of diagnostic work I've done so far on my own has yielded nothing notable.

@joncoy
Wait until you hear back from OWC support, I do not have an answer here.
