I resized it to 1 GB, still doesn't work trying to convert it to mirror RAID 1
Do you have a disk with no volume on it? The other disk must have 1TB of "free space". Maybe you mistakingly have a volume on the extra disk now? initialize it with SoftRAID to clear it.
Either "Convert", or "Add secondary disk" depending on how far you got. You should be able to now.
@softraid-support Ok, I added it as a secondary disk to "4 TB RAID 1".
It just needs to 'rebuild' but when I do it, computer restarts/crashes. Back to my original post.
Thanks, I do not see this in my tests. Let me dig further. Attach a new Support file, I can try to test your environment tonight.
Thanks, I would really appreciate that.
I see the problem. I am not sure how to fix it, nor how you got there. Let me ask a engineer the best way to deal with this. It may require essentially resetting your mirrors, using CarbonCopy Cloner.
@softraid-support What exactly happened? Thank you, please let me know!
There is something wrong with the SoftRAID status partitions on one of the volumes. It may be the older one. I cannot interpret the volume status partition, so need to ask an engineer to look.
Thank you, please let me know once you have the information.
@softraid-support If I buy the Carbon Copy Cloner, will it fix my issue?
Yes, but you will need to deal with both volumes, I think.
The main volume may be part of the issue.
Are you able to "split mirror" on both A and B?
Here is a weekend project...
Split mirror on both volumes.
zero disk on A first.
Initialize disk with SoftRAID, 100 sectors
erase disk with Disk Utility.
Carbon Copy Cloner from A to new volume.
Now you have a Disk Utility volume for both A and B.
Initialize both source disks. Create new SoftRAID volumes on both, A and B
CCC to A and to B.
Convert to Mirror on both.
Let me know if this is understandable.
What do you mean both volumes? Only "A 4TB RAID 1" is having issues and other drives/volumes are fine.
Maybe you meant to split the other drive? I have the old drive(HGST) and the newly installed drive(WDC) that makes up "A 4 TB RAID 1" See screenshot below:
I am not sure, without an engineer to dive into the partition maps, where the source of the problem is, so I am recommending both volumes yes. I don't want you to do A, and still have an issue.
