Hi there,
Just rebuilt a mirror volume with 2 new disks (one at a time, to my amazement the old ones already had 33,000 hours of use …), but now I cannot write to it anymore. When viewing the Get Info panel all Sharing & Permissions items are greyed out, even after unlocking the padlock icon. Enabling Ignore ownership on this volume doesn't make a difference either. The current user though has Read & Write as privilege.
Tried restarting as well to no avail. After restarting I got a warning though that
the system wasn't able to repair the volume, something I have never noticed before. Also when launching SoftRAID (from the menubar) both SR volumes I use show a warning in red for a second that 2 secondary disks are missing, after that no errors are shown (and not in the log either).
Could there be a connection? Any tips?
Thanks, Han
this means the directory has some damage. OS X then mounts it read only in some cases, in other cases, does not mount it at all.
You have two choices:
backup/erase the volume, copy the data back.
Run Disk Warrior to repair the volume.
Hi SR supporter ;-) Thanks for answering. Saw it only just, apparently missed the e-mail notification.
It seems that one of the old disks (that I mounted to wipe) in some way interfered with the raid set. Once unmounted I could use the raid set without further problems. Only the flashing in red for a second when starting SR still happens, but no errors are reported. So for now I consider the problem solved.
Regards, Han
