Good Day:

My Mirror 2-firewire 800 lacie drives are taking forever to rebuild.

1) My setting is setting "Work Station"; if I set it to "Server" does that make it re-build faster.

2) Can I do that while softraid is running?

Thank you

Yes and yes. Optimization can be changed at any time.

FireWire 800 should do around 55MB/s when set to server.

How much would that speed be affected by 3 people building ads while it's rebuilding?
I am trying to figure out why it's so slow.
It ran for 4 hours wasn't even 1/10th done (500 GB of data on 2 TB drive) and then it crashed.

Apparently it starts rebuilding all over again from the beginning.
I have 2 lacie drives: one 2 TB, one 3Tb in our Mirror. (800 firewire) 500 GB of Data on Volume.
One Lacie drive in the Mirror is firewired into the back of the other.
I want to plug into the back of the 2008 Intel Mac with another external 400 firewire and use Super Duper to back up the Mirror to take home, but am afraid that is cause crashes.
I am trying it again tonight with no SuperDuper backup.
Any Ideas?
Thanks for you time on these matters.
Seem to be having lots of problems.

Sorry I forgot to ask what Firewire 800 speed would be when set to "Work Station"?

Rebuilds are at about 50% of disk capability when users are using the machine, full speed when they are not.

We need to see a SoftRAID technical support file for your system. send it to support@softraid.com
