I have hit a snag in my initial set up of my Thunderbay 6 and perhaps I have misunderstood something. First I have set up 5 of the 6 drives in a RAID5 configuration and created a number of volumes for various purposes from Mac backup to Photography Images for LightRoom.
For the 6th drive I was going to create two volumes (1 a Scratch volume for LightRoom, and 2 a volume for use as Time Machine) but I can't seem to do so with SoftRaid. Whenever I select New Volume and then select that drive and go through the naming and volume size process nothing happens. I may have misunderstood the use of the 6th drive which I was leaving as non-raid to use full size all be it without any raid protection.
Apologies if this is dumb question, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am using:
SoftRAID v5.8.3
Thunderbay 6 with 6 10TB drives
MacBook Pro late 2016
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
Kind regards,
Mark Alexander
Try a restart and repeat creating a volume.
Once a process fails, you cannot predict what will happen until a restart.
let us know!
Thank you so much. The restart did the trick.
Many thanks!
