Looking for any help as I had some working files from this drive set and even temporarily could really use access to copy stuff over. I had a similar problem with this RAID1/2x8TB sata drives mounted internally maybe a year ago. I updated my SoftRaid app it worked again. I checked for updates and I'm all up-to-date. This RAID1 pair (2x8TB) won't mount in windows 11. If I go to view all disks, I can see them both. I have a feeling I got some indication from Disk Health that one of these was predicted to fail but I did not replace it although I have not seen anything since and that was some time ago. For a test, I cycled power and connected only one of this pair at a time. FIrst the primary then the secondary. When I powered on with only the primary I did not see the drive in Windows Explorer, but when launching SoftRaid I see it's asking me to add a member or remove member disks. I'm hesitant to do that although I wonder if it would then mount and I can get to my data to copy safely then rebuild the set with a new disk. However, I then cycled and removed the primary and only connected the secondary, and as expected, doesn't mount, but when I launched SoftRaid it sees the RAID. I think it made this disk now the primary (maybe temporarily) and shows #2 missing. It's slightly different in that it doesn't ask me in the window if I want to add/remove member I just see it's missing. I also went to all disks and clicked on this drive and show healthy. I'm wondering if there's a process of validation I should do or a way again of getting my data for now. It seems odd if one drive failed I can still see them both and that makes me worry about removing a member as maybe one is corrupt? If I were to remove a member from the primary set as it offered when I only had the primary connected, could I still potentially mount and read off the one that is still hopefully functioning correctly? Thanks for any help and guidance!
Testing a bit more by again, connecting each drive and just verifying the results. Back to both drives connected on the machine and it sees each RAID1 with a missing drive. I'm not sure the best approach but maybe running verify on the disks to determine which is bad or maybe best to connect just one and delete a member (that option is not available now) and try to get some data off?
It looks like the state you are in, is both disks are separated and "primary" drives. Each should conain 100% of your data, but the volume directory is probably damaged.
YOu may need to use a data recovery app like R-Studio (I think Disk Drill now has a windows version) to recover your data.
Thanks for your reply and you called it. Support was super helpful and quick to guide me and I have since scanned/recovered the data and now in the process of getting that backed up. I'm now determining how to avoid this in the future but starting with certification and probably a clone in the future more periodically is a good start! I'll get it all back which is priority so the time sunk is all good!
Glad it is working out. 95% of users do not appreciate the role of independent backups to everything. Weird things can go wrong and data is "fragile".
