This is perfect. So whatever your problem is, at least it is not a SoftRAID/Catalina issue.
The problem is I need to see your support file from SoftRAID and a copy of the panic report when your machine crashes (get "more info" and save the report into a text edit file)
Send those to support at SoftRAID dot com.

I did that yesterday and the advice was to post on the Apple forums as softraid support says it is not a Softraid issue.
Anyway, I hope I get a solution. ?

None so,far: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251432831
same here on 15.15.7 every time the machine goes to sleep (2020 5k Imac) I pretty much get a Kernel panic and SoftRaid is what pops up in the report, next to the Disk locking issue where I have to restart the Mac to continue using the Thunderbays.
Looks to be a file system issue, this is not enough to go by, but note it is a kernel task, like perhaps indexing. I assume disable spotlight does not fix this, but did you try that?
And if you unmount before sleep, it does not happen?
@softraid-support haven't tried disabling indexing as I use the Tunderbay as my main drive so need a spotlight, I also have not ejected the drive before going to sleep I may as well shut the computer down then as most data is on the drive.
Sadly the OWC drives are just not fit for purpose anymore with all the Disk Locking issues on top of it. This is a shame as I like the price and quality.
I ordered now a Promise Pegasus to replace the OWC and will see if that solves the issue seems like that are the only drives to definitely work with apple nowadays.
Spotlight issues are global, they are a nuisance to all users, not only softRAID volumes.
When the spotlight index is a problem, issues range from high CPU usage levels, not being able to unmount your volume, sleep issues, crashes at shutdown. After you disable spotlight and if it fixes the problem, you can re-enable it. But it is a necessary test to try to find the cause of a problem like yours.
@softraid-support ok I will disable spotlight however that does not seem to be straight forward any suggestion on how to disable it on 10.15.7
System Preferences/Spotlight.
Click Privacy
Add your volume as an exemption and restart.
To enable spotlight on your volume, delete the exemption.
ok I disabled Spotlight still same issue and it also sometimes happens just while working, screen goes black the Thunderbay makes a beeping noise and the whole machine restarts. No other drive makes the noise or blinks the light but the Thunderbay
Are you getting the "your machine restarted because of a problem" with a "report" to apple option?
Can you click report, then "details"? Use select all/copy/paste the text into text edit. Save it as a .txt extension and attach it to the thread in the forum. Lets see what is crashing. Also add a SoftRAID tech support file.
I also noticed version 6 is available which seems to have an upgrade price? So to keep my OWC Hard Ware devices running I will also need to pay for software upgrades?
