If I disconnect the disks that comprise the raid, then launch SoftRAID, it launches with no errors.
When I then connect the disks that comprise the raid, then launch SoftRAID, it generates the same error.
If you launch SoftRAID first, however, then connect the disks, everything is OK?
DId we get a support file from you when this was happening?
@softraid-support These are the PCI raids. The Mac Pro won't boot with the cover off, and you can't get the cover off with the power cord attached. I assume that means they do NOT want you to run it without the airflow tunnel the cover creates. How important is this test? I assume I can plug it back in after the cover is removed and figure out what I have to jumper across to close the lid switch.
@davo No, I did not consider this being a 4M2 inside a Mac Pro, when I made the suggestion. Let me consider a different solution and get back to you.
Thanks for trying this.
I did have you try "uninstall SoftRAID" from terminal, correct?
sudo softraidtool uninstall
and seeing if this cleared the issue?
This is happening on a 2008 Mac Pro (MapPro3,1) and the RAID is defined on the 4 internal SATA drives. I'm using one of the two other SATA connectors under the SuperDrive as a boot disk. I can test running SoftRAID without the RAID disk set connected, then connected. However, connecting and disconnecting the RAID disk set involves powering down the Mac Pro in order to pull drives.
When you say "connect" do you mean physically connect or do you mean mount?
If you mean mount, then I think what you are asking me to do is power on Mac Pro, which by default mounts the four internal SATA disks comprising the RAID set, unmount the RAID volume in Finder, launch SoftRAID, then mount the RAID volume. Would the unmounted RAID volume be visible in SoftRAID? If so, can I then mount the RAID volume in SoftRAID? I know I can see unmounted volumes is Disk Utility, but SoftRAID complains when Disk Utility is running at the same time.
I assume you did not get a support file from me. What do I need to do for you to receive a support file from me?
@softraid-support
Yes, I started there.
Uninstall> restart> didn't mount.
Reinstall> restart> same error
Please attach a SoftRAID tech support file, let me see where you are on this.
Save a support file from utilities menu. Attach it here.
this may be a case of the opposite of the "bleeding edge", you may be on the "tails end", where nothing is tested any longer. Lets see about this in more detail.
@softraid-support Support file is attached. Happy Tails to you, from HappyCamper ; )
Can you connect the drives, and generate a support file from the command line (Terminal.app) Paste this in. You will need your admin password.
Attached drives, typed in (correct) command in terminal, but did not generate a support file; got these results:

Sorry, I mistyped the command:
sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/HappyCamper.2023-11-09.sr_supt
I just wanted to add I'm having the same exact issue - I'm using a 4M2 inside a 2019 Mac Pro. I'm running macOS 14.1.1, now. But was getting this same error under 14.1 (I did not update my Mac from Ventura until 14.1 was released). I had been running SoftRAID 7.5 previously, with no issues.
