I just got a OWC Thunderbay 4 Mini - it was purchased by my producer to backup footage for a film project. I went through the process of setting up Softraid, then saw the "14 day free trial" notification. So I need to wipe it in order to set it up with Apple Disk Utility, but I can't figure out how to wipe it. It tells me "Operation Failed."

Chances are there is a full XT license inside the front door of the enclosure, if you want to leave it. It should also be pre-configured for RAID 5, and if you have 13.4, mounted automatically on the desktop. So you can just start using it.
If you want to change to Apple RAID, you should zero the disks with SoftRAID first, to make it easier on Disk Utility.
