OWC ThunderBay 4 on SoftRAID 7.6.1

I'm on the phone with OWC now.  It was posted on the Softraid website.  You want me to post my serial number?  I found the recent one.

Just so that you know, I have this in the SoftRAID.log:  Mar 22 13:32:16 - SoftRAID Monitor: Serial number is valid and has been assigned to this Mac.

OK, just know the latest 7.x didn't work.  Nor did early version 7's.

The app wouldn't stay open, throwing license errors, even when a new license was applied.

enter a license, then save a support file, let me see what the errors are.

I have version 8 now, and it's working.  Trying version 7 wants to install a helper file, which I cancelled.  I'm moving forward with version 8.  The OWC route never got back to me after submitting a report.

Unfortunately not.  I just had an OS update and restarted.  I have conflicting information in the log from the dialog box that came up.  The log:

Mar 25 18:52:27 - SoftRAID Monitor: SoftRAID Premium license activated for all users on this computer (nickname “HQ3”). Premium License Subscription: Expired on Nov 30, 2023

Mar 25 18:52:27 - SoftRAID Monitor: SoftRAID Premium license activated for all users on this computer (nickname “HQ3”). Premium License Subscription: Expired on Nov 30, 2023

Why does it report it's activated while expired November last year?  Why hasn't the most recent license been applied?  Why is that report so confusing?

You have a newer license that has not expired. Enter that.

This is a Premium License, that has expired support, i.e, a SoftRAID standard license.

If you renew this license, it will become active. But it is effectively a "standard" license until then.

 

Sorry if this is confusing.

OK then I am confused.  I recently bought a license and it was introduced.  I got this dialog box all the same.  Purchased January 24th.  I just 'updated serial license' with the same serial number provided in late January.  Why didn't this take earlier?  Am I doing something wrong?

I do not know. Maybe a bug on the license server? Maybe something in SoftRAID? Unless I see more similar cases, I do not have an answer for you. Its working now, which is great, though.

Can you decipher which plan I have?  Premium License or Standard?  Truly confusing stuff.
