Hi there,

I have a 32TB (4 x 8TB) Thunderbay 4 T3 purchased this year from OWC, striped to RAID 5 (24TB useable).

Approximately once every 3 times I start it up or restart the computer, 2 of the drives do not load up (no green light on chassis, not showing up in SoftRAID). Since there is no volume to eject, I have to switch off the power to the RAID and turn it back on again for all the drives to show up.

I feel this is damaging the integrity of the data as I had erros the last time it happened and needed to Verify, Recover and Rebuild.

Please let me know what I should do.

Thanks in advance.

This sounds like a hardware issue. Are both of the drives that do not show up the same?
Are they always "next to" each other? (a-b or c-d)

That is an unexpected answer. Swap their locations with the other two disks. What happens?
