Full Disk Access to the Application is enough.

@softraid-support. Cool, thanks, I did both, but REALLY looking forward to getting Softraid XT 6.0

I just finally left DROBO and have two Thunderbay 4's, both RAID 5, one 40 TB for my RAW Files and one 16 TB for my Final Files, I want to get another empty TB4 for some other files, Heck, I have over 10 4 TB Drives kicking around the house, might as well use them!!

SoftRAID will notify you, but I will try to update the thread with the current beta, a good idea.

Final release won't be for a while, I cannot speculate on a time frame until the new user interface is completed.

@softraid-support

Been updating my Beta versions as they come out, I just updated to 6.0.1 B53 last night.

I called Tech Support and they showed me the process of uninstalling and re installing everything to get my Icons to appear.

Now, the question is...  Any news on SoftRaid XT V6??  Or are were going to be using the Beta version for a while?  I didn't want to upgrade to Big Sur, but I was forced to by Apple, otherwise my Messaging and FaceTime would no longer work.  Please continue to keep us posted!!  Thanks

@yrsued

Beta 53 was just relased we are still moving forward on 6.0. We are planning on getting a release as soon as possible, though.

@softraid-support. Thanks, how are we going to be notified?  I've been checking for updates once or twice a week and perform upgrades when necessary.  Patiently waiting for the full version of 6.0.

Is SoftRaid XT Ver.6 a free upgrade for OWC Australian customers whom purchased ThunderBay 4's from MacFixit?

I have just upgraded to SoftRaid 6.0.1 from the last Ver6 beta and now the software is no longer activated and in a 10 day trail.

@apple-answers-au

Free upgrades are generally available to those who's systems are under warranty. (1 year for 0GB units, 3 years for units with drives)

Here is the web page to check upgrade options:

So to be clear, we have to pay $100USD to upgrade to your software, simply to run our enclosures on BIG SUR. This is expensive hardware I bought from you with the assumption I'd not need to be laying out cash to pay for what effectively is just a driver to have the thing operate as advertised.

If there's a way to use the drive in RAID 5 on Big Sur without paying for/using version 6, could you please post the solution here.

@arenhansen

Sorry, there is no way to run RAID 5 in macOS.

What year did you purchase your enclosure? Was it with or without drives?

2016. Without drives.

This is a shortsighted move from OWC. I assumed I'd have a functional RAID 5 enclosure for years, without paying additional money. There's a loss of trust I'll have going forward for OWC hardware, especially anything that requires any sort of driver/software.

I don't need any special features. I just want the thing to operate as advertised.

Further to this, if you say somewhere on the description of the item that 'Softraid will not work on future versions of MAC OS and will require a $100 upgrade', please show me. It says the software will work with version X and later, which implies it will keep working.

OK, what Am I missing here, I'm new to this environment, but I'm running two Raid 5 Enclosures with Mac OS, I did buy the full XT version 5 and just upgraded to version 6.  I purchased my enclosure in late 2020

@yrsued

You certainly qualified for a free upgrade based on your information. Did you pay for the upgrade?
