I have SoftRAID Lite for a couple years now and I have two Raid 1 volumes. One set has a Missing secondary disk message. Volume options are to validate, but halter a few hours, I do not see the message that the validation is taking place. The first time I enable, I was asked to enter my system password.
The second volume indicates Degraded - need rebuilding. Similar scenario, I selected to rebuild, but after hours, no indication of progress. I have the latest software version 5.8.3, however in the forum I read about confirming the driver is loaded by entering the following in Terminal: sudo kextstat -b com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID
Result: 191 0 0xffffff7f81498000 0x3b000 0x3b000 com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (5.6.9) 58844C00-8FB7-3DE4-84CC-F023DAD09DC6
Mac OS is Catalina, but I experienced this problem yesterday before I updated.
So, I am not sure the driver is loaded. Everything with SoftRAID Lite appears to function well.

You must disable Secure Boot. That is why the bundled driver is loading. This limited driver does not do rebuilding.
