Hi,

in the office I have a Lacie2Big thunderbolt drive with 2x3TB which was installed as RAID under OS X some time ago. As Apples DiskUtility has no support anymore for RAIDs I struggle now ...

One of the drives failed a few days ago and I replaced it with a new one. This drives appears now separately on the desktop. I downloaded the test version of SoftRAIDlite (current version) and installed it simply to see whether it works as an replacement for DiskUtility.

Okay, both drives appeared and the RAID drive showed "missing second drive" but there was no option visible to reconnect the second drive again ?!
I selected the RAID, selected the new drive - but the option in the menu was still grey. Am I doing something wrong ?

Help appreciated!

Kind regards
Roland

A Mirror volume is a single volume on the desktop.

What you have is the remnant of an Apple RAID volume and a new volume from your new disk.

here is probably the best/safest set of steps:
1. Initialize the new disk
2. Create a new volume
3. Copy the data from your other volume to it
4. Initialize the old Apple RAID disk
5. Select the new volume in SoftRAID, and "Convert to Mirror".
6. Let it rebuild while you work

SoftRAID cannot convert a degraded Apple RAID volume directly, so the above are the simplest steps.
