Volume usage vs drive usage discrepancy

I am using a Thunderbay with 4x 3TB western digital drives. The Thunderbay is split into two volumes, each consisting of a RAID 1 mirror. This issue occurs with both volumes. For example, one of the overall volumes has a capacity of 3TB and reports that there is 2.7 TB available. When I look at each drive making up that RAID mirror, it reports that there is only 18.6 Mb available on each drive. This seems to be a large inconsistency and I am wondering why this would be occurring.

You are looking at free partitionable space on the disk, not the volume space.
