Note: 7.5 does not load in Sonoma. You can go to softraid.com/support and key older versions are available on the right.
So... if one wanted to get to Sonoma but *didn't* want to participate in the beta, should one uninstall 7.5, upgrade to Sonoma, then install 7.6?
Keep in mind there is no longer a beta SoftRAID driver, so it makes no functional difference when you run a beta or release.
You can try your idea, but I think this is a MacOS setting, and it will not make any difference.
I am having the same issue.
Report from console attached (cannot get report from softraid as it won't open.
Could I have a link for your trial updated version of the driver (7.6.1)?

I am hoping to have a public beta soon, maybe this evening.
Following up from my post (2 weeks ago?), I gave up on dealing with it and just powered the RAID enclosure off. My daily kernel panics haven't happened since.
This is an encrypted volume, correct? I saw in your posted panic log, that the crypto driver was in the backtrace.
You power off when not in use, or powered it off completely?
@softraid-support good question, I don't remember if it was encrypted.
I powered it off and have left it off for two weeks. I don't have any spare drives to try a drive swap and I honestly have only ever used a tiny fraction of this 96TB array as I never took on the project i bought it for.... so its not any more useful powered on than it is powered off.... its just not been a priority to try to track down a matching drive.
At the time I powered it off, SoftRAID also refused to mount the volume anymore and was consistently telling me it was "rebuilding, waiting for mount"
I've also been getting conflicting information from SoftRAID when it was powered on.
I ran Verify twice, the first time the computer crashed towards the end. The second time it completed.
It shows "Verify Completed - 0 Errors", but then I also the following at completion... it also says SMART shows a pass.
Note: SoftRAID cannot rebuild a volume that cannot mount. this is intentional for data safety. If a volume is damaged (directory), there is no reason to try to rebuild. the problem needs to be fixed (if HFS), or restored from backup. rebuilding cannot do anything, as that is below the file system.
Clearly there is a problem, most likely in the hardware, somewhere, unfortunately. My guess is a bad drive, but without more clear info, I cannot tell.
An update form me: running the 7.6.1b2 beta that was provided after I raised a support ticket has fixed the problem. Works as expected now. Thanks for letting me access the beta pending the release of the fully tested 7.6.1 version.
Best regards, Steve
Great news....I hope the update is released soon. My system seems fully functional but it is frustrating not to be able to launch the SoftRAID application normally.

Do you think he may be using Shingled magnetic recording (SMR) drives? Not not for NAS.
the beta works correctly, on your system, correct? there is no issue running a beta, as the driver that loads the same release driver.
No this is unlikely to be a shingle issue. What would happen was rebuilds would start fast, then after about 10-20 minutes get much slower. But not "stop".
Its a known behavior that a volume which is read only (or cannot mount) does not rebuild, which is intentional. (to protect data)
I have not tried the beta yet. I was waiting for a public release to download it. Mainly because I had not had a chance to file a support ticket.
