I have not seen this on the older machines yet, but it is possible. I have one on my desk with multiple SoftRAID disks, running the latest beta. while we do not know what triggers this, we are working on a solution for all systems.

We have reproduced this now on the Mac Pro 2013 with High Sierra beta 3.

We will have a beta to address this, I don't have a time frame.

If I have a ThunderBay 4 in RAID 1+0 with HFS+, will it be possible to convert to APFS with encryption without losing all the data on the drive and having to re-copy it all?

When we are able to support APFS, yes. You will be able to convert without data loss.

Currently the APFS file system is not working on SoftRAID volumes. We will release a beta soon for public testing so you can try it. We will make an announcement on the forum when we are ready.

I am having the same issue not using AFS file system. I have Beta3 installed on external SSD format is normal Mac file system journaled and USB 3.0 ProBox with a 4 disk Raid 5. As soon as I plug the drive in it goes to the Your system has been shut down and will keep rebooting and going back. There were errors during the install about the extensions also.

You must have a 2017 Mac. We have replicated this and are working on a beta driver that will fix this.

No it is not a new MacBook Pro. The issue started with beta 2 of High Sierra. The first beta seemed to work ok.

With other machines we see a restart crash. Only the 2017 have we seen a crash on connection.

In any case, we are working on the root cause of this, it seems to be a developer API call that is no longer working.

thanks!

Any news when you might be able to release a beta to allow reading of HFS+ raid on my MacPro 2013 running High Sierra? I'm an Apple developer so I'm testing/developing on High Sierra but my files are on the raid array.

We may be releasing something soon, we have a beta in development that should be released in the next few days.

Any updates on High Sierra compatibility? I'd love to see if my current setup would work on High Sierra, but last time I checked on PB3, connecting a SoftRAID volume caused a kernel panic. Also somehow installing High Sierra PB downgraded SoftRAID drivers too (asked to update again). FYI, It's a Late 2014 Mac Mini.

While Beta version 8 of High Sierra fixes the main problem with SoftRAID volumes, you are welcome to request the beta directly by emailing support at SoftRAID dot com.

High Sierra beta version 8 fixes the kernel panics.

We now have a beta which you can request, as below.
