We will be digging into this, of course.

I'm now using 7.0.  It might be pragmatic to make 7.0 available on your downloads page.

Monday we can do more investigation. I have tested on three systems and have not seen this yet. Strange.

If you don't mind, can you run this test:. uninstall SoftRAID via terminal, restart, reinstall SoftRAID (and Allow OWC) and reenter your license.

Does this get around the problem with 7.0.1? I spent a couple hours on Sunday and could not see this problem, so it is either MacOS specific, or a preference issue in SoftRAID. This will help determine which.

sudo softraidtool uninstall

I'm getting conflicting information from you folks. I got an email from your colleague indicating I should keep going with 7.0 and wait for a 7.02 fix.

You post above isn't exactly clear. Do you want me to try a reinstall of 7.01?

If so I need specific instructions on how to uninstall softraid via terminal. Then after a reboot (where my drives will be unavailable) try a reinstall of 7.01? Do I need to deactivate my license before I remove via terminal?

I'm in the process of adding a drive to my mirror drive and won't be able to get to this until the rebuild is finished.

Also on attempting an uninstall and reinstall should I turn off my two enclosures at some point in the reinstall of 7.01 process?

@denverite

Just paste this command into the terminal:

sudo softraidtool uninstall

after the driver is uninstalled, restart.

If you feel better, disconnect your drives, it really does not matter.

We may need to create a debug version of SoftRAID to test this, also. Would you be willing to run that? it is the same as 7.0.1, but will collect debugging information.

I was launching using LaunchBar.  Again, I  have 7.0 running now and don't have time to mess around with my RAID.  SoftRaid had a 100% cpu process, but I saw no disks.  The app opened, but it was empty.  I could not choose to send in a report as it was not choosable.

We figured out this issue and a 7.0.2 should be released next week. It had to do with additional help we added for users who are upgraded, it created a "race condition".

Not yet. I am not sure what the time line will be to fix this. In the meantime, run 7.0, not installing the driver, over 7.0.1

@softraid-support, could you expand on the recommendation above?

Is it to run both the 7.0 app and the 7.0 driver or some other combination?

I am also waiting for a fix for kernel panics on an 2021 M1 Macbook Pro running Ventura (Mac OS 13.1).  I have downgraded back to 7.0 (driver and app) and am (mostly) stable.

Thanks,

Mark

If you install 7.0.1 driver, you can run the 7.0 application if you need to manage your disks. Just decline to install the 7.0 driver, and everything will still work.

The issue is a "race condition" between the SoftRAID Monitor and SoftRAID application communications, not a serious issue, but annoying for sure. The only time you need to launch the SoftRAID application is when you are managing or checking your disks. everything else should be working fine, even with this bug.
