...which does not resolve the error. I first noticed when seeing the red-exclamation mark in a circle on my RAID5 array's desktop icon.

I am on Big Sur 11.0.1, and it worked until I upgraded from Catalina 10.15.7.

Is this a known issue? Upon a first scan here in the forums, I couldn't find a thread discussing this, but forgive me if I didn't scour deeply enough.

...I should add that the array keeps functioning normally, so far.

5.8.4 is not compatible with Big Sur. We will be doing public beta's until 6.0 is ready.

here is the link to the beta: SoftRAID 6

Thanks so much for the link and for clarifying that. I am obviously out of the loop...sorry'bout that.

Installed the beta and that solved the issue for now...only 35 days remaining on the beta, for some reason, but I would imagine there'll be a new beta before then.

Kind regards from Berlin

Thanks again...the beta has performed perfectly, so far.

If I upgraded to the full SoftRaid on Oct. 7th (6 weeks ago), is it likely that v6 will be a free upgrade, or will I have to pay again.

That is not my decision and it has not been made yet. We do not know when the cutoff date will be, as we do not know when SoftRAID 6 will be released.

I have this problem with Softraid Xt.  Should I be installing the Softraid beta or is there a Softraid Xt beta?

Thanks,

John

THe 6.0 beta is for ALL versions of SoftRAID. So just use it. It is like using the Pro version for a few months.

I just migrated to an M1 MB Air 2020, and got a warning that SoftRAID cannot run...so I won't be able to access my RAID any other way until that time comes when it does, right?

Or is there some sort of trick that will give me access? I thought I read that Apple included these drivers in the OS itself, so simple read/write operations were possible, even without the SoftRAID driver and app, but I must have understood.

Apple made lots of changes with Apple Silicon. One of them, is no more bundling SoftRAID. So, no, the SoftRAID driver will not be bundled. (I do not think any third party drivers are bundled any longer, but would need to check)

Hang in there, we are trying our best to get this released.
