@stevebgb

It appears we found the source of the blue screen problem, a change in the MacOS development kit, so hopefully this beta fixes both the blue screen and "Monitor failed" problems.
SoftRAID.com/sr_beta
Please let me know.

(look for b7, it may take a couple hours to get posted)

b7 version seems to be working for me: blue screen gone: thank you!

Will we get a none time limited version at some point?

We have to finish this issue, it is not 100% yet. The beta will never expire, there will be new ones. Especially now, as we are on the target.

Worked for me also. If you need it here is the support file.

@john-graham

B8 has one significant change, where we detect applications users install that interfere with SoftRAID and pop up a dialog box alerting them. Otherwise it is the same as B7

I should mention that, in my experience, there was no prompt to initiate the installation of the 7.6 driver when I started version 7.6. Usually, the driver installation occurs, requiring a machine restart, after which the upgraded version becomes operational. However, this wasn't the case this time. Could running version 7.6 while still having the 7.5 driver be causing an issue? Read More..

No. As of Ventura 13.3 and later, the driver version is fixed by the MacOS version. You can run SoftRAID applications with later versions than the driver in these cases. Its by design.

I am having this problem in the release version of 7.6.1.

What should I try next? Revert to 7.6? Try 8.0beta?

I am on a 2020 Mac mini M1 with 2 ThunderBay 8s. MacOS 14.3.1.

Here is what happened when I ran the softraidtool:

hmahoney@HLM-Mac-mini-2020 weewx % sudo /Library/Application\ Support/SoftRAID/softraidtool uninstall

Uninstalling all SoftRAID components...

touch: /Library/Extensions: Permission denied

Warning: Expecting a LaunchDaemons path since the command was ran as root. Got LaunchAgents instead.

`launchctl bootout` is a recommended alternative.

rm: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.softraid.softraidd.plist: Permission denied

rm: /Library/LaunchAgents/com.softraid.SoftRAIDMonitor.plist: Permission denied

touch: /Library/Extensions: Permission denied

touch: /Library/Extensions: Permission denied

SoftRAIDTool: All SoftRAID components uninstalled successfully.  Please move the SoftRAID application to the trash and restart your Mac to complete this operation.

So I used Lingon X to remove the two .plist files. Lingon still showed three com.OWC files in the PrivilegedHelperTools folder. Next I did the restart and ran the SoftRAID app. It gave me the same error as before. Using Lingon, I removed the the two com.OWC file in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder and restarted. I ran the SoftRAID 7.6.1 application again. I got the request for password, the license dialog, a spinning beach ball for a few seconds, then the same error again.

What is next to try?

@hmahoney

Was SoftRAID able to install a folder in /Library/Application Support?
