 This 4 Disk Raid 5 is so slow it is driving me crazy.  It takes a long time ti access the drive.

Please check out the video of the delay in accessing the drive

Go to the App store and gert AJA System Test Lite.
Run AJA, set resolution to 8K video, Codec to 16bitRGBA, and filesize to 64GB.
Next, in settings, check "Dual DMA engine".
Select your volume to test.
See what results you get. Send me a screen shot.

Its a more standardized test. It should show the same results.

My guess is you have a badly damaged volume directory. Do you have Disk Warrior?

Or you may need to backup/erase (as HFS again), restore/

Thanks,  the latter sounds don't sound good.  My only backup is Backblaze.

@jerrykeefer242

500MB/s is decent performance for a 4 drive RAID 5.

If you are getting long pauses, that is usually Finder (directory) damage.

Disk Warrior will save you the time for backup/restore. But it is $119.

@softraid-support

Is there any utility I can use to fix Finder (directory) damage or even detect if that is where my problem is?  The long delays that occur when opening a directory are beyond frustrating.  I could not find a free (DiskWarrior lite).

Thanks Again

@jerrykeefer242

Disk Warrior, or backup/erase/restore are the only two options. No other company has figured out how to rebuild HFS directories, except the makers of Disk Warrior.
