I'm running Sonoma 14.5 on a Mac Mini M2. The softraid app has always resided on the boot volume, inside Applications. I have been running Softraid for years, always in this way, first time seeing a message like this.
I have rebooted several times. SoftRaid monitor is running. OWC is allowed in Login Items. SoftRAID.app had full disk access.
Thoughts?
I do not see the message. What is it?
Booting from another volume isn't really an option. There is only one boot volume (M2 internal SSD) and then RAID volumes.
Here is a snippet from the log:
Jul 27 14:26:58 - SoftRAID Monitor: Starting SMART test on all disks which support SMART.
Jul 27 14:26:59 - SoftRAID Monitor: Finished SMART test on all disks. No disks failed the SMART test.
2024.07.27 - 19:25:19 - SoftRAID Application: Error: code 153 (internal=22)
2024.07.27 - 19:28:22 - SoftRAID Application: Error: code 153 (internal=22)
Another thing is it keeps asking me to download 8.1, when 8.1 is already installed. Presumably because softraid monitor is still 8.0?
The latter message is because you have not installed 8.1 components, presumably because the application has never been successly launched.
This may also be a clue that there is a problem with ownerships in your system, or something that is blocking installations of components.
Do you have in System Settinhgs, Privacy and Security, allowing apps and third party developers enabled?
You do not need to enable third party system extensions to run SoftRAID)
What if you paste this into terminal.app? (and hit enter/password)?
sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/7.28.24.Cheule.sr_supt
Does that create a file on the desktop? if so, attach it. Or is there an error? if so, paste the responding text into your reply.
Every time I attempt to attach the file generated I get a forum error.
I have 3rd party developers on. I cannot attach the generated file.
% sudo softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/7.28.24.Cheule.sr_supt

@cheule the output in terminal is not important.
Can you do a quick test?
disable istat menus, restart and see if 8.1 will launch?
@softraid-support yes, I will try that tomorrow and report back.
