No, but when this happens, we often have to fix it that way. There were some bugs earlier in the year that we fixed most of, but there are remnants.

I do not see a problem. Your license renewed. If you are running SoftRAID 8.3, it should display in the UI. (there was a bug talking to the store in earlier versions) If you are not seeing yuour new expiration, then yes, deactivate/activate to see it.

I see it renewed now as well. Strange. This does not inspire confidence - it mysteriously expires and mysteriously is fine a bit later? I'm a bit freaked out at this point.

Is there something I can do next year to be confident I won't lose the drive that contains every photo I've ever taken? I need something I can depend on 1000% without spending thousands on overly-complex systems.

This has nothing to do with the SoftRAID driver, which is actually installed by MacoS. Even without SoftRAID, your volume will mount.

This was just Premium licensing. Ane it appeared to work as expected. Remember, when you upgrade, there may be a delay before SoftRAID app picks it up, otherwise we would have to be pinging the license server every few minutes!

I renewed on October 26th. I don't see why any interruption or delay should be expected when the same serial number showed an expired date in 2025 a full 2 weeks before yesterday's episode. And I rebooted numerous times between 10/26 and yesterday. I kept getting pop-up warnings the whole time stating my subscription would expire although I had already renewed. A minor bug, I thought. Then it actually showed it had expired, two weeks after renewing. Very bad. I hope this is not the intended experience. I'm not expecting pinging the license server every few minutes, but it sounds like once in two weeks, especially at boot-up, would have taken care of it. Or issue a different key at renewal that I have to enter manually and check that key with the server at that time, rather than reusing the same key but with a new expiration date and the software not be aware until after the previous expiration date.

Anyway, the issue resolved itself, so there's no point in ranting on about it.

I'm on 8.3 and am encountering the same license renewal issue - my license has auto-renewed, I activate and the app says all is good but then reports the license as not activated and when I check online in my account, it says the seat hasn't been allocated.

I've attempted to attach a support file but this reports with an error, attached. I'm surprised that licensing which is so core to the product suffers with these persistent issues.

My renewal was processed several weeks ago but I continue to receive notices that I'm going to expire on the 9th.  Will I have this issue on the 9th?

NO, on the 9th or 10th, it will update.
Are you running 8.3?
Are you getting pop ups, or notification inside the SoftRAID App?
If pop ups, how often?

@softraid-support I'm running 8.3. I get pop-ups. Not sure if it's every day but quite often. When I check the about menu item it show Feb 9th expiration.

Try "uninstall SoftRAID", then run it and install again. You will need to reenter your license. Let me know if that stops the pop up alerts.

This one has just bitten me in the behind. My license was renewed on May 31. Ever since, neither SoftRaid nor SoftRaid monitor believes my premium account is activated. SoftRAID thinks it expired on "null." Re-entering the serial number does nothing. Clicking "Activate" pretends to activate my premium license for all users of the computer, but in reality does nothing at all. Updating to 8.5 didn't fix it. Meanwhile, I was charged for the premium license twice in three monhts, and my license page at owc.com say both that my license has expired and that my license is active (screenshot attached). For extra fun, my SoftRAID volumes are shown as mounted twice in the Finder sidebar.

To echo a previous poster, none of this inspires confidence.

Your license (and a refund) were taken care of, apparently.

Two volumes in the sidebar is a MacOS issue.
You can clear all sidebar settings using these two terminal commands, then restart:
defaults delete com.apple.sidebarlists
killall Finder

Or, remove both icons from sidebar, and restart. Then add them back.

Hello,

Same problem - premium license disabled - renewal was paid via Order #408767 and was placed on July 22, 2025.

Activate only pretends to activate, etc etc.

Also frustrating is I've submitted the support form twice with no reply. 

Please let me know if you need any more info to fix this.

Name on order same as user name.
